Thanks Regina, helps clear the confusion.
Why are people whining that the event was cut off? If the event is not a cantha festival or wintersday it never lasts for more than a weekend, why would it change now? Stop being greedy.

so, this being the 20th event where it didn't start or end as advertised, when do you think it's appropriate to start a little quality control? do these things matter at all?

Maybe look at last years event listing and stop asking why people are whining.

It should have indeed ran at least through Sep.21st at 11:59pm pst.
Not sure if the coding ran it that long last year, why its different this year.
I am sure they will give us a redux or some such to make up for it. Just hang tight people.

Two stacks short of my target as i was planning to get them today and tomorrow. Oh well still got the majority of the grog i needed! Just got to figure out the best way to use it all now. Not going to complain about the event ending "early" as it was a free event after all. They didn't have to support it at all so any grog dropping time we got is a bonus imo

Maybe Anet should have done there job better and not false advertise and fall back on excuses on why they screwed up. Just another example on how not to run a buisness.

UPDATE. I just spoke with Linsey. The event ending time listed in the message of the day login screen was a typo. The event was not intended to last beyond what was scheduled in the automated system, and according to the automated event system, the event ended on-time and as scheduled. Therefore, the International Talk Like a Pirate Day event will not be extended or re-run. We're sorry about the error, confusion, and inconvenience.

Wait a second... Didn't ArenaNET staff and the Live Team play this game? If yes, then how on earth could they have missed the error in the login announcement?!? Unless of course they didn't bother with telling people before the premature ending.....
Either way, something's wrong.

I was away for the weekend but was happy that there was still some time to farm this event according to the original announcement. So now instead of grog and merriment I can just skip right to a bad taste in my mouth.

Don't be silly. They are ALL busy 'balancing' the game and doing / creating / designing / testing / approving / changing updates to GW1.
Why would they play the game?
The rest is busy playing GW2 and couldn't give a hoot about GW1.
However, they really need someone that could actually pay attention to detail. I find this seriously disappointing (and frustratingly disheartening) since I am such a stickler for detail. Yes, they are only 4, but RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO man, do a proper job when you do something.
Hell, I will offer my services for free!
Anyway, no skin off my nose. I didn't care much for this event anyway. Nor did I farm at all.
I do have a say about how I see this though... and when I saw this thread, I couldn't help but wonder... "Oh God, what did they do now again...."
'tis sad.

Why do we still have faith in Anet?
Oh wait, we dont.
It's sad how badly run this game is at times. How can you say one thing and yet do the complete opposite and have it always be a 'typo' or 'error'. Seriously, stop screwing up Anet. We know its what you're best at, but jeebus, its getting crazy stupid.

Basically ^. Good thing I didn't have time to play all weekend and was looking forward to getting some grog today......oh, wait.....that's not good at all.
/sigh. This just seems more and more common. Idk why I still care so much. I really need to switch games :/

Wow a job you don't have to pay attention to, do anything, not fix bugs, nerf fun stuff, ignore Sf becouse fear it might push people away, allow certain "dupers" keep all the cash they got for ambraces they sold not to mention give them back their accounts. Where does one apply?
